TPE 2: Monitoring Student Learning During Instruction

Teacher candidates can continue to assess and monitor the students' comprehension on the material being taught and their overall progress towards meeting the State-Adopted Content Standards. Assessments should be done in a variety of formative and summative methods.

Below is an assignment chart. The chart is divided into three sections: assessment techniques, purpose and examples. For the first segment of the chart here is a list of 20 different assessment techniques that I plan on using in my future classroom.

TPE 3: Interpretation and Use of Assessments

Teacher candidates are able to comprehend the different forms of formative and summative assessments and implement appropriate assessments for diverse student learning. Candidates understand how to administer different assessments to verify student comprehension of the State-Adopted Content Standards. Finally, they are able to successfully and accurately explain the results of the assessments.

The below attachment is a description of a field experience exercise. I administered a mathematics summative assessment to a class of 4th grade students. I then calculated the results, graphed and analyzed the assessment data.
Below is an example of a Running Record Assessment, I conducted with a 4th grade student. Attached to this document is my analysis of the Running Record data.
Below is a literacy-based case study I conducted with a 1st grade girl. I then analyzed the results of the case study and her phonological awareness.

Literature Review

This paper is a book review of A Differentiated Approach to the Common Core: How Can I Help a Broad Range of Learners Succeed with Challenging curriculum? By Carol Ann Tomlinson and Marcia B. Imbeau. It will encompass my personal feelings of the text, how it affected my teaching philosophy, and whether I would recommend this text and why.
